What’s the difference between pan-pizza and hand tossed pizza?
1. Pan pizza and hand tossed pizza are not the same!
Have you often wondered how is pan pizza different from the hand tossed one? Do they both not come in identical pizza pans? Find out what differentiates them!
2. The baking temperatures are different
Hand-tossed pizza is usually baked at around 500 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 15 minutes whereas pan pizza is baked at a higher temperature for about 15 minutes.
3. Hand tossed pizza is actually tossed in the air!
When preparing a hand-tossed pizza, you knead the dough until it is soft. After kneading, the dough is repeatedly tossed in the air till it gets the perfect shape. While in pan pizza, dough balls are prepared and they are spread inside a deep pan to get the shape.
4. There’s difference in dough too!
The hand tossed pizza has a soft dough so that while rising it can be easily spread onto the pan. The pan dough is harder and since this pizza has no space to expand, it is fluffier.
5. It is also about the crust
Pan crust is also called deep-dish as it has a thicker and fluffier crust whereas hand-tossed pizza has a flatter and crispier crust.
